At first glance, the Parable of the Unjust Judge appears to be a lesson about persistence. A widow repeatedly approaches a judge seeking justice. He has no fear of God and no concern for people. Yet because she refuses to give up, he eventually grants her request.
Most invitations arrive with an expectation. A birthday party invites us to celebrate, a graduation invites us to honor an achievement, and a wedding invites us to witness joy. Yet every invitation requires a response.
Some invitations are declined because of conflict. Others because of distance. Still others are forgotten beneath the weight of everyday life.
The kingdom of heaven is like a man who sowed good seed in his field; but while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat and went his way. But when the grain had sprouted and produced a crop, then the tares also appeared.
